For Your Information...
A Chivaree is an old, rural custom usually reserved for weddings. After the wedding and the reception, the newlyweds leave to go home or to a local inn or hotel. After they have been home for a "suitable" amount of time, several of the guests stand outside their home or hotel singing loudly and banging pots and pans. The couple is expected to appear in the window or on the porch and thank everyone, thus ending the chivaree.
